Speech and Swallow Function Laboratories

The Speech and Swallow Function Laboratories are engaged in the development of cutting edge tools and procedures to quantify various aspects of speech and swallow functions in patients with neurological impairments. These tools can then be utilized to provide early diagnoses, help with differential diagnosis, track disease progression or quantify change in disease status, guide treatment and to determine treatment outcomes in patients. This work is done in collaboration with experts in speech science, psychoacoustics and digital signal processing. The research is supported by the NIH, VA RR&D and the University of Florida.
